This photo, with its clear message, is just one of over twelve thousand appearing in the Surfers For Cetaceans (S4C) website, and that number will doubtless continue to grow as people everywhere learn about their Visual Petition.
Dubbed “A global petition by the greater surfing community for the conservation of marine mammals”, the Petition is the brainchild of Dave Rastovich and the S4C group, and is designed to put faces, rather than signatures, on the movement to protect dolphins and whales.

They want everyone to join in, and have made the process simple.
Once you get to the Visual Petition website, you have the option of either downloading and printing a photo of a whale or dolphin, using a photo of your own, or writing out a message.  Then have your picture taken with your chosen photo or message and upload it to their site. Surfers For Cetaceans has also made a full length documentary, Minds in the Water, scheduled for release at the end of September. The film follows Rastovich as he traveled the world over a five year period bringing his message of preservation to ocean communities everywhere, and will no doubt entertain the viewer with glimpses into the unique surfing lifestyle.
One man, intertwining his passions for surfing, the ocean, and the mammals that live there is making a huge difference, and so can you.
Add your picture to the growing Petition, or spend some time thinking about other things you can do.  Whales and dolphins everywhere are in dire need of your help.
